The photo that I chose among the ones I like was taken by a person I met on that same trip, a new friend named José.

The photo shows a part of the Pumalín park, located on Carretera Austral, more specifically in Caleta Gonzalo. In the photo I appear passing by rocks at the edge of a river, holding a rope that was there to avoid accidents, the way was very dangerous, because the rocks were wet and covered with moss.. The photo was taken in February of this year, on my vacations.

I like it a lot because it shows how the landscape was in that place, it was one of my favorites and it brings back good memories. Although I also remember that in that trekking a friend sprained his ankle and another friend who came down to ask for help was lost and was long alone looking for the way back, until he found us again, exasperating.

My favourite piece of technology is my cellphone. The cellphone that i currently have got it about two years ago and I bought it after working on holidays to get it.

The truth is that I use it for everything, but mainly to see social networks and communicate with my family and friends. I also liked to use it for its camera, but now it has a small defect.

I use my cellphone almost all day, since I get up and turn it on to check messages, and before sleep I look at it once more to see if there is something entertaining. Even when I don’t need it, I am seeing the hour at every moment. I feel it's a pretty big problem, and I have to learn to control myself.

I like it because I entertain myself with everything I can do with it, such as watching music videos, talking on video calls, talking with people, etc.

If I didn’t have a cell phone, I would have more time to do other things, like going out, studying, or any other activity that requires time and attention. Also, I would focus more on the university, because sometimes I get distracted him.

Why did I choose this career

When I was a child I wanted to study many things, among them astronomy, dentistry, and I had interests in environmental careers and also careers that had to do with animals, but not veterinary. Growing up, I really liked Ecotourism and until I left school I wanted to study that, mainly because of extreme sports and because it was related to nature.

At the time of postulation I realized that I had important things to be held responsible in the future and I thought that if I studied Ecotourism it was a bit more difficult to have a good economic situation for these purposes, so that we look for a career that has what to do with the environment and I found Forestry Engineering. And finally I applied to this career at the Universidad de Chile and the Universidad Católica.

My experience at the University has been complex, mainly because I found it difficult to adapt to living alone, and it was difficult for me to be satisfied with my choice, by the time I’m appreciating my career.

I would like to work in Conaf, but I still don’t know in what area. And I wish I could get closer to Ecotourism anyway.

 

My Auto Biography

Susan Jara Farías was born in San Antonio, Chile. On January 21st, 1999. She have two brothers called Cesar and Patrick and a sister called Anastasia.
She studied at Colegio Fernandez León, Colegio Nehuen, and Colegio San Miguel de Rema at elementary school until 8th grade. She attended Colegio Adventista de Porvenir, Colegio Espíritu Santo and Colegio Almenar for her high school studies. 
In 2017 she started her career at Universidad de Chile in Santiago, where she studied Forest engineering, but she would like to study Ecotourism.
Susan actually lives in La Reina with a roommate and her cat Luna.
Susan likes to watch Netflix, read, listening to music, travel through Chile, and above all sleep. And her favorite place is Torres del Paine visited in February, 2016.
